Are you afraid you'll like it? I took a chance on a Sparks record once and eventually loved it.

I understand Ray. I would never go to a Leonard Cohen concert.

"Re: IH at High Voltage
I read a lot of this stuff and I feel a few words in defence of Joe would be in order.

Joe is probably the biggest MtH and Ian Hunter fan there is (well maybe not - there are some huge fans - but he's well up there and he's certainly the most influential). I have met Joe at a few Hunter gigs and he's the most approachable and humble 'rock star' you could ever meet. He's a genuine fan and does what he does out of love and respect for Ian and the rest of MtH members. When I first met him many years ago I had copies of some old MtH posters and he was as eager as anyone to grab one.

Let's face it, most of us here would do what we could to promote all the songs and music we love from MtH onwards. MtH and Ian are totally under-rated and under-exposed and deserved much better airplay and public recognition than they ever got. The difference between us and Joe is that he is in a position to do something about it and we're not. Anyone with one iota of love for Hunter and MtH should be glad for what he has done, and yet it seems that here and elsewhere on the forum all some people can do is take a swipe. God - they even seem to have jumped on the bandwagon swiping at The Quireboys too now! Having spoken to one of them (Paul) at the Barbican gig, they too are massive MtH and Hunter fans, and are keen to talk to the rest of us to share their enthusiasm. Why else would they spend their time on what appears to be becoming a thankless task paying tribute to the music we and they love? Certainly not for the money! And, with all the tribute bands around today for other bands, we couldn't exactly get a better bunch of guys for a long overdue 'tribute band' for our heroes could we?

So - a bit of tolerance for Joe please .... If he comes on stage with Ian at the end of gigs, why the devil not? He's one of us! He takes nothing away but adds a lot by his off-stage support. The more high-profile people like Joe that join Ian the better.

Maybe the problem is a little jealousy. Always seems to me that some fans are really possesive about Ian and MtH. Well if that's you, try and be a bit more like Joe and the Quireboys and start to do what you can to spread the word instead of trying to keep it all to yourself.

And support Joe and The Down'n'Outz! They are amazing. Long may they be around and resistant to some of the crap here that would put most people off ever bothering play for us again.

Rant over! Got to go. I just need to get ready for the abuse from the possessive so called 'fans'......

PS - I don't mean you guys and gals with objective criticism. Whether you like something or not is your decision. Nobody is right or wrong. It is all down to your own taste. Let's just stop the personality bashing!"

God Bless those who are Down and Outz :)
